Who we are and who we’re looking for: The Goleta Sanitary District is a group of individuals who care deeply about protecting public health and the environment. We value innovation, commitment, and excellence as the region’s authority on water resource recovery. This position reports to the Facilities Maintenance Manager or Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, and is part of the District’s Facilities Maintenance team.
Duties: Applicant may be considered for either Tech II or Tech III position, depending on qualifications. Under general supervision, the Tech II (journeyman-level) position performs a set of skilled in the installation, repair, and routine maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities and mechanical equipment. The Tech III (advanced journeyman-level) position performs a wide variety of skilled tasks in the installation, repair, and maintenance of higher-level wastewater treatment plant mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment; handling the more complex maintenance and repair duties and assists in supervising others.

Requirements: Tech II-High school diploma or GED andfour years’ experience in the wastewater field in the repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment such as pumps, motors, valves, and engines; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Tech III- High school diploma or GED and a minimum of four years of work experience in the wastewater field in the repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment, such as pumps, valves, and engines; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The Tech III position is distinguished from the Tech II by level of responsibility, and exercise of functional and technical supervision of lower-level staff, and by the complexity of duties.
The Goleta Sanitary District is a regional collection, treatment, and resource recovery facility serving the Goleta Valley. We partner with the Goleta West Sanitary District, the City of Santa Barbara Municipal Airport, UC Santa Barbara, and the County of Santa Barbara in collecting, treating, and reclaiming resources at our Water Resource Recovery Facility. The District’s vision for the future is focused on sustainability through innovation based on new technologies to maximize water resource recovery, reuse, and energy self-sufficiency.
