Internship Summary
Raya Health is offering a paid Community Health Worker (CHW) Internship for individuals interested in public health, community engagement, maternal health, or health equity. Interns will work directly in their communities to support outreach, education, and navigation into maternal health services.
This internship is not a sales role. Interns act as trusted community messengers and navigators, supporting individuals in understanding available services and connecting to care through a guided, ethical process.
What You’ll Do
Community Outreach & Education
Conduct in-person outreach in assigned neighborhoods and community settings
Share culturally and linguistically appropriate information about maternal health support
Build trust with pregnant and postpartum individuals and families
Navigation & Support
Assist with basic eligibility pre-screening using approved scripts
Support warm handoffs to Raya Health’s enrollment team
Help ensure timely connection to doulas and care teams after enrollment
Learning & Professional Development
Receive training in community health outreach, ethics, and compliance
Learn about maternal health systems, doulas, and care coordination
Gain hands-on experience working with real-world public health programs
Compliance & Ethics (Training Provided)
Interns will be trained and expected to:
Follow privacy and confidentiality guidelines
Avoid making promises or guarantees about services or benefits
Not collect or store sensitive health information outside approved toolsQualifications
Required
Interest in public health, maternal health, community health, or social services
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Comfort engaging with community members in person
Reliable access to a smartphone
Highly Preferred
Bilingual or multilingual skills in one or more of the following languages: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Punjabi, Dari, Pashto, Mixteco, Mam, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Korean, Arabic, Farsi, Amharic, Tigrinya
Deep connection to or lived experience in the communities served
Students or recent graduates in public health, health sciences, social work, or related fields
Compensation
Hourly pay: $20–$24/hour (based on experience and language skills)
Hours: 20–30 hours per week
Performance stipend: Monthly, based on aggregate patient engagement (not per enrollment)
Paid training provided
