Position Description
We are currently recruiting for Specialists in the Grants & Incentives and the Air Quality Analysis departments. The Grants and Incentives department administers one of the most efficient and respected grant programs in the state. This role offers the chance to work directly with applicants across the Valley, helping District grant applicants access programs that support cleaner technologies and improve air quality. The position is fast-paced, dynamic, and impactful.
In the Air Quality Analysis group, the Specialist will work with photochemical models such as CMAQ, as well as large data sets, and reduce the data to support rule development and State Implementation Plan efforts, perform comparative analysis, build visual aids, and utilize Geographical Information Systems to communicate and track the implementation of a broad variety of air pollution control programs. The Specialist will also be a part of the meteorological analysis and air quality forecasting program, providing updated and projected air quality information to the general public. After familiarity of the program, the incumbent will perform the full range of data analysis, data reduction, technical troubleshooting, GIS mapping, forecasting, and presentation of visual aids to internal and external audiences.
Our Specialist positions are entry points for many professionals, with numerous career advancement opportunities. The current vacancies are located in our Fresno office. The eligible list established may also be used to fill temporary positions. Temporary appointments may last up to 2 years.
Key Responsibilities
Research air quality regulations and federal/state requirements.
Collaborate with stakeholders, including those in underserved communities, to promote grant opportunities.
Collect and analyze data to evaluate grant applications, prepare reports, and recommend solutions.
Manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
Deliver presentations and communicate technical information to diverse audiences.
Use software tools to analyze data and prepare documentation.
Qualifications/Requirements
A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., science, engineering, urban planning, public administration, business, math, geography, geology) OR two years of relevant experience that may substitute for education.
Strong organizational and analytical skills, including the ability to handle large datasets, make calculations, and develop technical reports.
Proficiency in using software for data analysis and documentation.
Additional Requirements
A valid California Drivers License or the ability to obtain one upon hire.
Flexibility to work on-site as needed.
Must be able to attend work on a daily basis as scheduled.
