The Imperial Irrigation District a public utility located in southeastern CA is seeking a Counsel Assistant to provide legal advice to the Board of Directors, its members and District staff on all legal and business matters including a wide variety of public agency law, civil law, labor law, and provide legal support to the Water and Energy departments; assist with internal operations of general counsel’s office; represent the District in legal proceedings and ensure that District activities support strategic objectives and are in compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.  Performs other duties as assigned.

An active license to practice law in the State of California is required.  Doctor of Jurisprudence from a recognized educational institution and five years of progressively responsible experience in the practice of civil law and public agency representation which may include civil litigation defense and public agency litigation.
