The Imperial Irrigation District a public utility located in southeastern CA is seeking an Associate Counsel to serve in this position consistent with the attorney-client relationship; provide expert and technical counsel to the Board of Directors, its members, and District staff on all legal and business matters including a wide variety of public agency law, civil law, labor law, and provide legal support to the Water and Energy departments; represent the District in legal proceedings; represent the District’s interest at the local, state, and federal level; and ensure that District activities support strategic objectives and are in compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned.
An active license to practice law in the State of California is required. Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D. or LL.B.) from a recognized educational institution and seven years of progressively responsible experience in the practice of law, including four years of which involve the representation of clients in a governmental agency or utility. Experience as a City Attorney, County Counsel or other governmental agency is preferred.
