The District is currently recruiting for an Accounting Technician to provide specialized and technical accounting and financial record keeping support work in a variety of accounting functions. The current vacancy is located in the Finance Department and assigned to the Fresno Office. This recruitment will be used to fill the current temporary vacancy and may also be used to fill future vacancies. Temporary appointments may continue up to a maximum of two (2) years. Additionally, the salary listed will increase 2.5% in July.

The incumbent will review accounting and financial documents to ensure accuracy, completeness of information, proper authorization and compliance with District policies and procedures; examine supporting documentation to ensure conformance with agreements, contracts, and state and federal regulations; post information to ledgers, journals, and reports; reconcile general ledger, journals, subsidiary accounts, and bank statements; audit accounts receivable; and assist with the processing of payroll.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of two years of college with an emphasis in accounting, business, finance, or a closely related field. Sub-professional accounting support work may be substituted for the education on a year for year basis.
Qualified applicants must possess knowledge of basic business office practices and procedures used in the administration of a program, such as: filing, business arithmetic, including percentages and decimals; correct English usage, including grammar, punctuation, spelling, and vocabulary; basic business data processing and record keeping principles; AND skill in: preparing, analyzing, and reconciling financial reports, records, and transactions; verifying the accuracy of financial data and information; ensuring proper authorization and documentation for disbursements and other transactions; preparing clear, concise, and complete financial reports and statements and using initiative and sound judgment within established guidelines.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid California Driver License and meet the automobile insurability requirements of the District. Must be able to attend work on a daily basis as scheduled.
