The Resort Improvement District No. 1 is seeking an experienced individual with General Manager experience in local government ideally in the field of wastewater, water, electric or public works and with a bachelor's degree. This is a full-time 40 hour a week position.

The General Manager is the Chief Executive Officer for the District and reports to the 5-member elected Board of Directors. He/she makes management decisions in conformity with Board-established policies and procedures. The General Manager plans, organizes, directs, implements, and supervises District functions and activities to achieve efficient operations and to meet , plans, objectives and goals. This includes administering personnel and acting as the agent in union negotiations. Utility management, Public Works or engineering experience in California highly desired. Must have the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, with the constituents and other agency personnel; and the ability to meet and serve the public courteously and efficiently.

Residence in Shelter Cove area (zip code 95589). Eight years experience and/or education which would provide the necessary knowledge and abilities required. Equivalent to graduation from a regionally accedited 4-year college or university, with major in Business Administration, Public Administration, Civil Engineering, or closely related field. Five years of experience in management, preferably in public utility distribution.
Shelter Cove is a rural unincorporated residential community located in Humboldt County on the Lost Coast of California. The Resort Improvement District No. 1 (RID) is a special-purpose district established in 1965 pursuant to the State of California Public Resource Code Section §13000-13233. The RID was formed for the purpose of installing and maintaining facilities that provide electric, water and sewer services for the Shelter Cove Community. The RID also manages the greenbelt areas within the development, the day use airport and the Shelter Cove Volunteer Fire Department. The RID employs water,
wastewater, electric, parks and safety professionals who provide these diverse services.
