The City is searching for a skilled, experienced and enthusiastic professional to plan, organize and coordinate comprehensive recreational and leisure services programs at a Community Recreation Center and/or a major function or program, instructional classes and activities within a specific field of expertise.
The most highly qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the examination process which includes a Qualifications Appraisal Interview. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for April 25, 2023. Successful candidates will be placed on an eligible list for employment consideration for at least six months.
This recruitment is for a wide range of recreation specialties, including, but not limited to aquatics, youth sports, senior program, recreation programming, special events and more.
At least two years professional experience in the recreation services field such as facility management, a specific area of instructional specialization, planning, scheduling, and event coordination in a comprehensive recreation program. Experience directing recreation staff.
Educational achievement equivalent to a four-year college degree in recreation or a related field. Additional years of experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year for year basis. Additionally, candidate must obtain a four-year college degree equivalent within three years of appointment.
Special Requirements:
Ability to obtain a CPR and advanced First Aid certificate;
ability to obtain a water safety instructor's certificate and lifeguard training when assigned to the aquatics program;
possession of a valid class C California driver's license with a safe driving record. The employee may be required to drive personal vehicle or arrange transportation between worksites.
