JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision to perform various tasks to support the operation, maintenance and administrative departments of the Don Pedro Recreation Agency (DPRA).
Examples of Duties
Perform routine public contact work, operate park entrance stations, collect fees (computer terminal operation), cash handling, register visitors, make campsite assignments, provide emergency response procedures, and patrol campgrounds for rules and regulation enforcement. May be required to provide emergency dispatch.
Assist in keeping the facilities clean and orderly within the recreation area. This may include custodial tasks such as garbage pickup and disposal, recycling program, restroom cleaning and maintenance repairs. Responsibilities may require the use of various equipment and hand tools for tasks such as mowing, plumbing, wastewater and drinking water facilities, carpentry, gas powered weed eater operation and painting.
Assists in Agency Lake Operations, which may include operating a vessel independently to mark hazards, adjust docks, maintain regulatory buoy lines and floating restrooms, public contact work in permit compliance and collection of lakeshore camping fees.
May assist in the supervision and training of temporary workers.
Perform other related duties as required or assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the skills and abilities would be:
Education High school diploma or equivalent is required. Associate’s Degree preferred. Job-related certifications combined with experience may be considered.
Experience Minimum of one (1) season in a Park and Recreation environment. Three (3) or more seasons preferred.
Skills and Abilities Interpersonal and Communication: Ability to: follow oral and written instructions; and establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Technical and Analytical: Ability to: problem solve, make sound judgement and learn all principles and practices of DPRA’s technical applications
Administration and Operations: Knowledge of District organization, procedures and operations. Ability to interpret and apply District regulations and procedures. Ability to: perform labor intensive work
Necessary Special Requirements Possession of the following: Appropriate California driver's license.
NOTE: This position will be based out of DPRA located in La Grange, California.

Oral Interview 70% (Section Weight - 40%)

Don Pedro Recreation Agency offers campsites at three campgrounds with nearly 600 campsites. Additionally, when filled to the brim, Don Pedro Lake offers nearly 160 miles of shoreline and 13,000 surface acres of water on which to operate vessels. Fishing is allowed year-round in the still waters of Don Pedro Lake and tributary creeks that are east of Highway 49 and flow into the lake are closed between November and April. Day-use picnic areas are available at both Fleming Meadows and Moccasin Point recreation areas. In addition to the lake, offering green grass and a sandy beach, the swimming lagoon at Fleming Meadows is a popular place to picnic and swim with family and friends. With such a wide-range of activities available at Don Pedro Lake, the recreation agency employs permanent and seasonal staff to help maintain the parks as well as make sure customers have a fun and safe trip to any of the three campgrounds and various day-use areas.
