Administrative Clerk I
This is the entry level class in the Administrative Clerk series. This class is distinguished from the Administrative Clerk II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters related to established procedures and guidelines as are positions allocated to the II level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or no directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.
Administrative Clerk II
This is the journey level class within the Administrative Clerk series. Employees within this class are distinguished from Administrative Clerk I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and they are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level.

Examples of Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Perform a wide variety of general clerical work including the maintenance of accurate and detailed records, verifying accuracy of information, researching discrepancies and account status, and recording and correcting information; and entering information into a computer.
Maintain a variety of office and departmental files; update, record, organize and process files, service orders, and documents; copy documents and records for distribution; maintain detailed records of customer accounts.
Research, compile, and balance information and data for statistical, financial or departmental reports; collect and batch payments; process refunds; maintain a variety of records; check and tabulate statistical data.
Type, proofread and process a variety of documents including general correspondence, memoranda, ordinances and statistical charts from rough draft, or verbal instruction.
Assist the public over the phone or in person; provide general information on policies and procedures regarding the area to which assigned; make referrals as appropriate.
Act as receptionist; screen and refer calls and visitors.
Receive, sort and distribute incoming and outgoing correspondence; may maintain specific inventories for assigned area.
May dispatch field personnel for a variety of routine and emergency service calls.
Perform other related duties as required or assigned by supervisor.
When assigned to Don Pedro Recreation Agency (DPRA): Responsible for the processing of the Agency deposits.
Create posts, monitor and respond to customer comments and messages on Agency Social Media sites.
May be required to dispatch staff to various emergency incidents and routine calls and coordinate with various external emergency units.
May be required to work holidays, nights and weekends.
Process payments in person and over the phone for various transactions.
Review, process and mail online purchases.
Support and serve as backup to Administrative Assistant, which may include assisting in preparation for and attending Board meetings and transcribing minutes.
Support field operations, which may include working outdoors in all department locations and weather conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the skills and abilities would be:
Education Administrative Clerk I-II
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized clerical training is desirable.
Administrative Clerk I None required.
Administrative Clerk II Two years of experience equivalent to an Administrative Clerk I at the Turlock Irrigation District.
Skills and Abilities
Interpersonal and Communication.
Administrative Clerk I-II - Ability to: understand and follow oral and written instructions; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Technical and Analytical.
Administrative Clerk I-II - Knowledge of: English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation; principles and procedures of basic record keeping; and modern office methods, practices, procedures and equipment. Ability to: learn and correctly interpret and apply the methods, policies and procedures of the assigned area of responsibility; respond to public inquiries, complaints and requests for service in tactful and effective manner; perform general clerical work including maintenance of appropriate records and compiling information for reports; type at a speed necessary for successful job performance; accurately perform basic mathematical calculations; and operate a variety of office equipment.

NOTE: This position will be based out of DPRA located in La Grange, California. DPRA is looking to fill this position as an Admin Clerk I.

Don Pedro Recreation Agency offers campsites at three campgrounds with nearly 600 campsites. Additionally, when filled to the brim, Don Pedro Lake offers nearly 160 miles of shoreline and 13,000 surface acres of water on which to operate vessels. Fishing is allowed year-round in the still waters of Don Pedro Lake and tributary creeks that are east of Highway 49 and flow into the lake are closed between November and April. Day-use picnic areas are available at both Fleming Meadows and Moccasin Point recreation areas. In addition to the lake, offering green grass and a sandy beach, the swimming lagoon at Fleming Meadows is a popular place to picnic and swim with family and friends. With such a wide-range of activities available at Don Pedro Lake, the recreation agency employs permanent and seasonal staff to help maintain the parks as well as make sure customers have a fun and safe trip to any of the three campgrounds and various day-use areas.
