STUDENT INTERN - GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS
The GIS Intern will perform entry-level tasks using geographic information systems (GIS) under the supervision of the senior planning department staff. The Intern will serve as technical staff assistant within San Bernardino County Transportation Authority's Data Management Office.
This is an excellent opportunity for interested students to get real-world experience with GIS applications in a government setting.
Approximately 20 hours per week. Work hours may be arranged to meet student's school schedule, but generally are within 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Current enrollment in a recognized 4-year college or university, or graduate students, with coursework in geographic information systems with a major study area in Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Geography, Engineering, Biology, or a related
- Basic knowledge and skill in GIS design and GIS software including
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently, efficiently and
- English usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and
- Must be a U.S. citizen or a legal resident and eligible to work in this country as determined by the U.S. Immigration Laws and the Department of Homeland
- Possession of a valid California driver's license and proof of automobile liability
