This position is responsible for the comprehensive management of our senior living community's recreation programs, including clubhouses, aquatic facility, fitness center, golf course, clubs, outdoor music venue, social, and educational activities for residents and their guests. Our Recreation Services Director ensures that community facilities are staffed, equipped, maintained and set-up for residents' use and is the main liaison for the organization's various clubs and residents regarding rules and policies.
The essential functions of this position:
Plans, organizes, and supervises all clubhouse social, health & wellness, cultural, travel, entertainment and educational programs and activities including special community-wide events.
Plans and approves all outdoor music venue shows which include selection of the entertainers, fee negotiations with agents and publicity arrangements.
Prepares and maintains an electronic master calendar of reservations for the various facilities.
Assists in the preparation of the annual department budget, monitors expenditures and purchases.
Supervises, trains and evaluates performance of the Recreation Department staff and interviews applicants for employment within the department; mediates and resolves problems within department.
Oversees and advises custodial services contractor; maintains close coordination with custodial supervisors and staff.
Interacts, communicates, and works with individuals, group and committees to promote interest and development of recreational programs and activities; makes presentations to various committees and Board of Directors.
Oversees the clubhouses and various recreational facilities to ensure maximum utilization.
Conducts surveys and audits to provide feedback for changes.
Introduces new programs and ideas through a collaborative process.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
5 years experience in a recreation program including two (2) years in a supervisory role preferably within an adult community.
Bachelor's degree with a concentration within Recreation, Hospitality or other leisure management.
Ability to comprehend and negotiate entertainment contracts.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to gather, analyze, evaluate facts, to prepare/present concise verbal and written reports.
Professional manner and appearance and ability to use diplomacy, tact, and sound judgement.
Public speaking at various events and meetings.
Self-starter with good organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
Ability to multi-task and excellent time management skills.
Ability to work flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends.
