Associate Civil Engineer, Zone 7, is a professional level class in the engineering classification series. Incumbents perform routine to difficult engineering work and are expected to exercise professional judgment within established parameters.
Our current vacancy exists in the Engineering Division, which provides engineering services for Water Supply System Projects and Flood Control System Projects. Depending upon suitability of the candidates experience and interest, the assignment could be either in the Water Supply Section supporting implementation for capital projects for the Water Supply System (water treatment plants, groundwater wells, water conveyance pipelines) or in the Flood Protection Engineering Section supporting capital projects for the Flood Control System, as well as other impactful duties.
SALARY: $130,624.00 - $158,787.20/year
IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate has experience with a proven track record of success that demonstrates knowledge, skills and abilities in the following areas:
A self-starting individual with proven experience working on engineering projects and studies, and managing contracted services (e.g., consultants); • Possesses a broad working knowledge of engineering and/or planning principles and practices in water resources (e.g., water supply and flood protection) along with experience with related codes, ordinances and laws; • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects and coordinate related resources, personnel and activities to successful completion; • Ability to plan, design, and manage construction (of) water supply and flood protection-related projects. • Ability to work with regulatory agencies to implement projects. • Collects and synthesizes data/information from a variety of sources in an objective and scientific manner to reach a sound conclusion or forecast; • Sets reasonable goals and develops a plan to achieve goals while ensuring routine activities continue productively; • Exhibits adaptability and enthusiasm when faced with changes and challenges; • Practices strong interpersonal communications to maintain constructive relationships with the public, other agencies, developers, engineering firms and all levels of staff across the Agency, fostering cooperation and collaboration to ensure efficient completion of projects and goals; • Effectively presents and receives information and concepts, in both written and oral formats. • Utilizes and manages technology (such as GIS) and other resources to achieve Agency objectives. • Positions may be assigned to any section within.

Education:Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering, Geology or a closely related field. (Possession of a valid State of California Engineer-In-Training certificate may be substituted for the required degree.)
Experience: The equivalent of three years of full-time, progressively responsible professional engineering/geological experience.
Certificate: Possession of a valid California Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineer, or a valid California Certificate of Registration as a Registered Geologist issued by the California State Board of Registered Geologists and Geophysicists.
License: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
