Nevada County Consolidated Fire District (NCCFD) is in the foothills of western Nevada County. NCCFD is a consolidation of five fire districts with the last consolidation taking place in 2003. The District covers 143 square miles of residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas surrounding the cities of Grass Valley and Nevada City. We serve a population of approximately 33,000 residents in our jurisdiction, plus have a joint operations agreement with Grass Valley and Nevada City fire departments.
NCCFD is a special district, governed by seven board members serving overlapping four-year terms. The fiscal year 2021-22 operating and capital expenditure budget is $7.8 million. NCCFD has 38 permanent, full-time employees and employs temporary, full-time employees during wildfire season.
The Finance Department is responsible for all areas of the district finances including accounts payable, budgets, financial analysis, accounts receivable, payroll and other finance related functions. The Finance Department is managed by the Finance Manager position and supervises one finance assistant.
The Finance Manager position is an exempt position, with a flexible work schedule. The salary range is $76,009 to $89,798. The position also includes insurance benefits up to $1,693 per month. Annually the position has 88 hours vacation, 56 hours executive time off, 120 hours of sick accrual and 11 holidays. Retirement is funded through the California Public Employees Retirement System and Nationwide Insurance.
