The Community Services Department is currently recruiting for a Recreation Assistant II position in the Sports Division. The Department is seeking enthusiastic, motivated, team and public service-oriented individuals to contribute to our mission of "building resilient communities by cultivating healthy bodies and curious minds". The ideal candidate will assist in the planning, implementation, and supervision of sports activities and programs at a variety of recreation facilities. The incumbent will typically work Monday through Friday 40 hours a week, but will be assigned occasional nights and weekends based on program needs.
Possession of a high school diploma or GED and three (3) years of paid or volunteer experience leading a variety of athletic and recreation activities. One year of college or university level course work (30 semester/45 quarter units) in recreation or physical education or a closely related field or specialized experience in a particular recreation area may be substituted for one year of the experience (the college units must be received from an accredited college/university).
Must possess a valid California driver's license. Must possess the physical characteristics to perform the critical and important duties of the job. Must be willing to submit to fingerprinting as mandated by State law. Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and/or other hours as needed.
