THE TOWN OF FORT JONES is accepting applications for a full-time Public Works person. Current CA DL required. Current Grade I Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate and/or current D-1 Water Certification preferable. Public Works experience and heavy equipment operator especially desirable. Must be able to perform routine and heavy manual labor with general maintenance equipment and tools. This position requires some on-call coverage and may be required to work weekends. Post offer drug and alcohol screen will be required. Position will remain open until filled. Pay and benefits are negotiable DOQ. Proficient of the methods, practices, equipment and materials used for maintenance Knowledge of pertinent District policies and procedures, employee handbook (including safety program) Knowledge of vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance procedures Knowledge of landscape and irrigation operations; landscaping equipment and basic repair Experiance in operating maintenance equipment and backhoe Skilled in assigning, overseeing and directing a work crew Skilled in working within deadlines to complete projects and assignments Skilled in following and effectively communicating verbal instructions
Skilled in operating independently and as a team member Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, other District employees and the public Skilled in reading, understanding and interpreting and applying relevant laws, codes and regulations
