The Santa Clara Valley Water District (Valley Water) is seeking an agile, innovative human resources leader who values people over process to serve as their Deputy Administrative Officer of Human Resources. Headquartered in San Jose, the Santa Clara Valley Water District (Valley Water) is the largest multi-purpose water supply, watershed stewardship and flood management special district in California.
Ideal candidates will think beyond the status-quo, appreciate the expertise of staff, and believe that collaborative partnerships are the recipe for success. The next Deputy Administrative Officer of Human Resources will possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, a high level of self-awareness and value people over process. The ability to establish, maintain, and foster positive working relationships with all employees, the Board of Directors, bargaining units, and other stakeholders is a must. The individual must be politically astute, open-minded, and capable of creating and establishing key partnerships of value to the organization with other public agencies and non-profits. The ideal candidate will be a confident, responsive leader who strives to inspire staff to be solutions-oriented and achieve great things.
A Bachelor’s degree, six years of increasingly responsible administrative, managerial or professional experience in the public sector, water or related industry, with four of the six years in management/supervisory authority, is expected. A Master’s degree is highly desirable.
