Orange County Local Agency Formation Commission is seeking an Assistant Executive Officer. The candidate will have a stable work history with demonstrated growth managing in a government agency or nonprofit entity. A desire for continued learning and self-development is important, as are strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work with all levels of staff and government leaders in an environment of changing priorities and political shifts. The successful candidate will start at the $132,019 with reviews annually.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, political science, business administration, or a related field. • Master’s Degree in the above fields is highly desirable. • A minimum of four (4) years of professional experience with LAFCO, City, County, or another public agency. • A minimum of two (2) years of managerial experience. • Theories, principles, and practices of public administration, management, and finance including goal setting, program development, implementation, and evaluation, budget development and administration. • Urban planning theory and techniques, public finance, public infrastructure planning, environmental laws, and local government. • Knowledge of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Any combination of education, training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities in qualifying may be accepted.

The Orange County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) is a subdivision of the State of California and responsible for overseeing the establishment, expansion, and reorganization of local government agencies and their municipal service areas. Orange LAFCO draws its regulatory and planning powers from the State Legislature with the directive to encourage the orderly and efficient development of local governmental services. There are presently 68 agencies under Orange LAFCO’s oversight - 34 cities and 35 special districts.
