The Professional Development Assistant will report to the Professional Development Director.
Components of the position include:
EDUCATION PROGRAM/MEETING LOGISTICS
The Professional Development Assistant will work with the Professional Development Director to help facilitate the logistical planning of all education workshops, Legislative Days conference, the CSDA annual conferences and other events for the California Special Districts Association and other organizations brought in under administrative services agreements.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Providing administrative support to the Professional Development Director.
Assist with coordination of the CSDA education workshops; including coordinating facility arrangements, coordinating instructors and preparing workshop materials.
Organize and compile handouts, materials and presentations for each event.
Coordinate event marketing materials and signage with the Publications Department.
Compile event evaluation data from each event and report results in a timely manner.
Oversee registration duties for all events; including data input and ongoing data management
Track and report attendance figures for each event
Assist Special District Leadership Foundation with tracking of the Special District Leadership Academy attendance and its graduates.
Setup and organize onsite registration for our local Sacramento workshops and events.
Assist the Professional Development Director in the coordination and oversight of the Annual Conference including the managing conference registrations, speaker and exhibitor coordination and other duties as assigned.
Setup and take minutes at the Education Committee meetings (3-4 held per year).
Maintain inventory of Education Department event supplies and materials.
Assist the Membership, Legislative and Publications Department with projects as assigned by the Professional Development Director.
Special projects as they relate to the Education Department.
Perform other related duties as requested.
Experience and/or interest in meeting planning logist
Experience working with event speakers.
Strong customer service skills.
Knowledge of computers a must; including experience with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Experience with Access a plus.
Experience with IMIS Database management a plus.
Exceptional written and verbal communications sk
Must be member-oriented team player with a positive attitude.
Independent worker who is willing to take on a variety of projects.
Strong organizational, planning and administrative assistant skills a must.
BA/BS in communications, education, marketing, or related field from an accredited university preferred. Non-profit, education and meeting planning experience is a plus.
