The Calaveras County Water District is seeking their next External Affairs Manager. This position plays a critical role in the District's management team. Responsibilities of this position include the management of the Customer Service Department, the District’s public outreach and community involvement programs, water use efficiency and conservation programs, updating District policies and customer service practices, assisting with state and federal legislative efforts, and assisting with the pursuit, development, and administration of grants. The External Affairs Manager is part of the District’s management team and works across all departments to improve public relations.
Education, experience, and certification requirements for this position are as follows:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Public Policy, Business Administration, Public Relations, Communications or closely related field.
Customer service management experience in the water or utility industry is preferred.
Prior government or public agency experience preferred.
A minimum of three (3) years of increasingly responsible community relations, customer service, policy advocacy, and grant related work including at least two (2) years of lead or supervisory experience.

Calaveras County extends from the Central Valley southeast of Sacramento up to the high Sierras. The County’s historic gold rush towns are home to thriving wine, tourism, and outdoor recreation industries. The Calaveras County Water District provides water and wastewater service to a majority of Calaveras County’s residents. CCWD also serves raw water to irrigation customers and owns two hydroelectric projects. The District also has County-wide water resources planning jurisdiction, which includes three watersheds (the Stanislaus, Calaveras, and Mokelumne rivers), and a portion of the critically over-drafted Eastern San Joaquin Groundwater Basin.
