The District is currently seeking a Finance Director who is a collaborative partner with their team and department heads to problem solve and achieve department and District-wide financial goals.
Reporting to the District Manager, the Finance Director, leads a team of 7 and will handle all finance activities and functions. The District has an operating budget of $46 million and a capital budget of $15 million. The Finance Director is a member of the District’s senior leadership team; advises the District Manager, Board of Trustees and department heads on all financial matters, and addresses the financial needs and goals of the respective departments to keep their projects going.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, public or business administration, or closely related field plus 7 years of increasingly responsible financial management experience with at least 4 years of supervision/management experience in a unionized environment. The ideal candidate will have direct practical experience with financial management, government accounting, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), rate-setting, budgeting, auditing, long-term financial planning, internal controls, investments, public retirement systems, and purchasing. Successful candidates will also have experience mentoring and developing staff at all levels.
