About Washington County Water District
The Washington County Water District (WCWD) is the main government entity in the community and serves drinking water to approximately 110 connections.
Washington, California, located 30 minutes east of Nevada City on the banks of the South Fork of the Yuba River and has a population of approximately two hundred people.
WCWD uses surface water from Canyon Creek for its water supply. The water is filtered by slow sand filtration methods. We then chlorinate the water which passes through a mixer to assure contact time and then piped to the town’s 200,000 gallon storage tank. All water flow is by gravity. Some customers get their water directly from the 3 mile pipe to town from the filtration plant.
