The Sacramento Suburban Water District (SSWD), located in Sacramento County, California, is a publicly owned and operated water utility formed in 2002 by the merger of two agencies. SSWD is governed by an elected Board of Directors.
SSWD provides water to its customers from groundwater wells. In addition, SSWD has contractual rights to 26,064 acre-feet per year from the City of Sacramento’s surface water entitlement; and through a contract to purchase up to 29,000 acre-feet of surface water per year from Placer County Water Agency.
The Senior Inspector independently plans, organizes, schedules, and conducts inspections for work of both development projects and SSWD’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects. The Senior Inspector is required to be familiar and effective with diverse situations and relavant procedures to ensure work is completed properly.
Ensure project compliance with plans, specifications, and District Standards.
Maintain accurate and complete documentation.
Utilize the District’s software programs, such as the Work Management System.
Investigate customer complaints and develop solutions.
Maintains effective communication among internal staff as it relates to inspection of construction projects.
Assist Engineering Department staff in review of development project plans.
The Ideal Candidate…
The Senior Inspector will possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to effectively and independently organize and conduct a wide range of construction inspection related duties with minimal supervision.
Qualified candidates will have…
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Four (4) years of experience as a journey-level Construction Inspector that includes the inspection of public works water facilities at a level equivalent to Inspector II; or, four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in water treatment/distribution facility maintenance and operations work.
License: Valid Driver License issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and proof of good driving record as evidenced by the absence of multiple or serious traffic violations or accidents for at least two (2) years duration. The driving record will not contribute to an increase in SSWD’s automobile rates. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a physical disability will be considered for accommodation on a case-by-case basis.
Certifications: Possession and maintenance of the following:
State of California Water Distribution Operator Certificate Grade D2.
State of California Water Treatment Operator Certificate Grade T1.
Compensation and Benefits…
Compensation: $31.98 - $39.98 per hour depending on experience.
