The San Joaquin County Public Works Department is seeking an experienced, strong senior manager to join a progressive public service employer to provide management over site of the Water Resources/Flood Management Division. This position will be responsible for the strategic planning, development and implementation of the County’s water resource plans, programs and projects. This specialized role will develop short and long-range goals, objectives and priorities and strategic planning of for the Division that is consistent with the overall vision of the Department.
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and principal based problem solver that possesses knowledge of and experience with water resource/flood management issues and laws in California. The incumbent will possess skills and experience in developing policy, advocacy positions on legislation and/or regulatory matters and have the ability to build consensus between varied interests. This position will perform duties with a high level of independence and professional judgment and possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication skills to interact and communicate with County staff and officials, various state and local agencies and the general public.
Desirable Qualifications: Six years of responsible administrative, analytical, or engineering work on water resource and related issues
