You'll be responsible for:
Working with a highly qualified and motivated team.
A wide variety of work including the maintenance of parks' grounds, drought tolerant landscape designs, local and professional sports' fields, contract supervision, City facility landscapes, special projects, and lake maintenance.
Maintaining an award-winning professional baseball field.
Overseeing landscape conversion projects, field renovations, and a variety of other special projects.
Working with a diverse team on special events such as the annual 4th of July Fireworks Show, Founders Day Parade, softball and baseball tournaments, movies and tv commercial productions, along with MiLB events.
Utilizing state of the art equipment to complete assigned projects and tasks.
The incumbent's duties will consist primarily of:
Manage, plan, and implement the year-round agronomic program for the Quakes Stadium in accordance to Minor League Baseball standards and recommendations. Oversee the daily maintenance of the playing surface in the stadium and other athletic field locations to ensure they are up to professional standards. Additionally, this position will help train and develop capable part-time and full-time ground crew members who will play a key role in the planning and execution of a variety of on-field events.

Education and/or Experience: Graduation from high school and four years of increasingly responsible experience in public works maintenance work including athletic surfaces maintenance, including experience in a lead supervisory capacity or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.
Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture, Turf Management or related field is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of equipment operation, techniques and methods used in the assigned maintenance activity; recordkeeping, budgeting and purchasing procedures; pertinent laws, codes and safe work practices; methods and techniques of supervision. Ability to supervise the work of others engaged in the area of specialization; allocate equipment, materials and personnel in a cost effective manner; read and interpret plans; prepare work records and reports; inspect work performed to ensure compliance with standards or specifications; communicate effectively orally and in writing; understand and follow verbal and written directions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
This position requires the ability to work evenings, graveyard and weekends and is subject to emergency call outs.
Must possess, or have the ability to obtain within the probation period, a current ISA Certified Arborist certificate and a current QAC/QAL from the Department of Pesticide Regulations with a Category "B" (categories C and F are desirable).
Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) is desirable.
