The Administrative Assistant position will assist with routine duties primarily in the Mandatory Recycling Ordinance (MRO) project, with some support also provided to the Reusable Bag Ordinance, Facility Fee Enforcement, Business Assistance projects and the general administrative team. The position will receive day-to-day direction from staff working on these projects and will report to work at the StopWaste offices at 1537 Webster Street in downtown Oakland.
Example of duties consistent with the Administrative Assistant job description including the following duties:
Assist with entry, organization, manipulation, review and filing of data and correspondence.
Assist with enforcement-related mailings and data entry associated with these tasks.
Assist with customer service functions including logging, forwarding, and responding to phone, email and web inquiries, questions and communications.
Interact with StopWaste staff as well as external parties such as private waste haulers, city staff, and contracted business assistance staff to perform the above functions.
Other project-support duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE: Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and in data entry required.
ABILITY: Ability to organize thoughts and effectively communicate in English both orally and in writing; be self-directed; manage personal time and be punctual; prioritize tasks; willingness to learn new skills; ability to follow procedures and protocols without deviation, ability to perform detail-oriented tasks accurately, consistently and thoroughly.
SKILLS: Good organizational skills and records management skills. Computer skills as outlined above and including e-mail and Internet research. Pleasant and effective customer service skills over phone and in writing.
EDUCATION/TRAINING: Any combination of experience and education/training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade and two (2) years of increasingly responsible general office or secretarial experience.
