The City of Santa Monica is seeking a proactive and innovative professional to lead and manage our comprehensive aquatics program. As the Aquatics Program Manager, you will promote a professional work environment, foster staff development, and ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for patrons. The Aquatics Program Manager is accountable for effective aquatic program implementation, coordination of maintenance of the aquatic facilities, and customer service. This position will work within the Community and Cultural Services Department’s Community Recreation Division and will contribute to enhancing community wellbeing through the health benefits of water safety. The Program Manager is responsible for three aquatic venues, including the Santa Monica Swim Center, Annenberg Community Beach House and the Lincoln Middle School pool.
This position requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Recreation Administration, or closely related field. Masters in Public Administration is highly desirable. Five years of recent, paid work experience developing, organizing and supervising community service programs, including at least two years in aquatics program management level responsibilities and at least one year of staff supervision. Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid class C driver license. Possession of a valid Red Cross or National/State accredited certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for the professional rescuer within six months of hire. American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Instructor Certificate or Water Safety Instructor Trainer Certificate and a Certified Pool Operator License.
