The Oakdale Irrigation District was formed on November 1, 1909 pursuant to the provisions of Division 11 of the California Water Code (the “Act”) and for the purpose of delivering irrigation water to the agricultural lands within its boundaries. Geographically, the District encompasses parts of Stanislaus and San Joaquin Counties. The District offices are located in the City of Oakdale on Highway 108/120, approximately 15 miles northeast of Modesto. The Oakdale Irrigation District is currently seeking a collaborative leader and seasoned financial professional to serve as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and effectively oversee the District’s Finance Department. The ideal candidate will be someone that operates well in a close-knit work environment, brings a collaborative team approach to problem solving, offers leadership through example, and is encouraging of their staff to take initiative and develop professionally. He or she will be an honest, consistent, and responsible individual who exercises a high level of ethics and integrity and can interact and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders. This position requires someone that is highly organized and detail-oriented, who thrives in a fast-paced environment. A candidate with strong communication and public speaking skills to effectively represent the District, will be ideal.
At a minimum, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course of work in Public Administration, Business Administration, Accounting, or a closely related field, and have ten (10) years of increasingly responsible supervisory or management experience in accounting, with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience in public finance. Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, or an advanced degree in any of the aforementioned disciplines is highly desirable.
