Located in a remote area of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Kirkwood is 35 miles southwest of Lake Tahoe. The District’s service area encompasses an area of approximately 1.875 square miles. The District provides electric power, propane, water and wastewater services, fire, solid waste, snow removal, parks & recreation, mosquito abatement and cable administration and is supported by 19 FT staff and a $9 million budget.
The Board of Directors is seeking a strong working manager who possesses well-developed skills in strategic and financial planning, people management and regulatory affairs. The next General Manager will constructively and quickly respond to unexpected natural and emergency services events and exhibit grace, poise and calmness under extreme pressure in harsh conditions. They will also be articulate, credible, and trust-worthy with a strong commitment to public service and the community. A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum five (5) years of supervisory experience in a related field that includes three (3) years in the public sector/local government is expected. Or, any combination of education and experience which would likely provide the necessary knowledge and abilities.
