City of San Mateo is accepting applications for the position of Parks and Landscape Maintenance Supervisor

Parks and Recreation Department
The Parks and Recreation Department provides a full spectrum of landscape maintenance, park design, and recreational opportunities for the San Mateo community. There are 30 fully developed parks, 6 community recreation centers, 2 aquatic facilities, and an 18-hole golf course. In addition, the Department supports the maintenance of a number of unique facilities, including a nationally recognized Japanese Garden, wetland and bay front water features at Shoreline Park, and open space management of Sugarloaf/Laurelwood Parks. The Landscape Division is responsible for providing horticultural and grounds maintenance and improvement of City parks, playgrounds, civic buildings, open spaces, and other publicly landscaped facilities and providing technical expertise in new park development and re-design. A key goal for the Parks Division is continuing current water conservation strategies and research new ones for areas we oversee. The Department employs 60 full-time employees and the equivalent of 56 per diem employees.
Parks and Landscape Maintenance Supervisor
The Supervisor plans, organizes, directs and supervises landscape maintenance operations within the Landscape Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. This position will coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility, and exercise direct supervision over assigned technical, maintenance, and administrative support staff.
The Supervisor receives general direction from Parks and Landscape Manager.
