Superintendent of Operations
The Superintendent of Operations is an exempt position with an annual salary range of $86,592 -$134,244, paid bi-weekly
The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional who plans, organizes, manages, and provides administrative direction and oversight for the Operations & Maintenance Department, including facilities, pipelines, meters, pump stations, wells and related equipment and performs related work, as assigned.
Some areas of responsibility include:
Oversees, directs, and participates in all Operation activities of the Operations Department, including short and long-term planning, as well as development and administration of departmental policies, procedures, and services. This class provides assistance to the Director of Engineering in a variety of administrative, coordinative, analytical, and liaison capacities. Successful performance of the work requires knowledge of public policy, including the role of an elected Board of Directors, and the ability to develop, oversee, and implement projects and programs in a variety of areas. Responsibilities include coordinating the activities of the department with those of other departments and outside agencies, and managing and overseeing the complex and varied functions of the department. The incumbent is accountable for accomplishing departmental planning and operational goals and objectives, and for furthering Agency goals and objectives within general policy guidelines.
Some examples of essential job functions are:
Assumes full management responsibility and leadership for the Operations Department; Directs, plans, manages, and coordinates the development and implementation of engineering goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for each assigned program area; Provides advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out operations plans and procedures consistent with Agency policies; Confers with staff and consultants for the planning and design of construction projects; participates in the preparation of plans and engineer design work; Supervises the preparation of feasibility studies for the development of resources; Provides updates for General Manager, Director of Engineering and Board of Directors regarding project status; Conducts and/or advises staff regarding contract, permit, land acquisition, and rights-of-way negotiations; Oversees process for land acquisition; may prepare documents, attend public meetings, and negotiate final settlements; etc. (see below)
