The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority is seeking an energetic, innovative and proven leader with technical, functional, managerial and customer service expertise as a corporate secretary or municipal clerk. This position manages the operations of the Corporate & Information Governance Department, including agenda coordination for board and committee meetings; ensures compliance with Corporate Governance laws; and reviews agenda reports and materials for completeness and compliance with established policy and procedure. This classification leads and manages others, requiring the exercise of a high degree of independent judgment, initiative and problem solving.
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from a college or university with a bachelor's degree in business, management or public administration, or a closely related field; and at least five years of progressively responsible experience in preparing agendas, taking and transcribing minutes of meetings and explaining policies, procedures and regulations to staff and for the public, at least 3 years of which were in a supervisory leadership capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements: Certification as a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) and Notary Public preferred. Certification as a Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) desired.
The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority was created on January 1, 2003, as an independent agency to manage the day-to-day operations of San Diego International Airport and address the region’s long-term air transportation needs.
The legislation that created the Airport Authority mandates three main responsibilities:

?Serve as the region’s Airport Land Use Commission – and ensure the adoption of land use plans that protect public health and safety surrounding all 16 of the county’s airports.
The Airport Authority is governed by an appointed board of nine members who represent all areas of San Diego County and three ex-officio members. Three members serve as the Executive Committee.
