The East Bay Regional Park District is seeking Student Laborers and Gate Attendants for the 2018 summer season! This is an exciting chance to work in the largest regional park district in the nation. If you would like to spend this summer in the parks, serving the public in a fast-paced and team-oriented work environment, then this opportunity is for you! These are seasonal positions, paid by the hour with no benefits, typically not lasting more than six months in duration. Work schedules may be full or part-time depending on the needs of the park.
STUDENT LABORER HOURLY PAY RATES:
Start Rate: $11.77
Returnee Incentive Rate: $12.14
GATE ATTENDANT HOURLY PAY RATES:
Start Rate: $14.00
Returnee Incentive Rate: $14.37
Under supervision, the Gate Attendant performs a wide variety of public contact service involving the collection of fees at entry gates and other requisite administrative tasks in support of park visitors and staff. Greets visitors, collects park fees, provides accurate change, issues receipts, accurately maintains deposit logs and accounts for all revenue collected during the shift, responds to visitor questions, maintains inventories of necessary supplies, provides brochures, gives directions, takes reservations, conveys park rules and regulations, communicates with staff and public safety officials during emergencies, conducts litter pick-up surrounding kiosk, and reports public hazards.
Under supervision, the Student Laborer performs various unskilled manual tasks needed in parks, for example: Collects litter, sweeps paths and parking lots, cleans toilet buildings, loads debris for pick up, etc. May perform various unskilled general tasks related to the operation of the park buildings, for example: Unloads supplies, empties wastebaskets, and performs general clean up. This is a general labor position that may be called upon to do any labor task that does not require training or experience; may operate a District vehicle or utility cart, but will not operate other machinery (electric, battery, or gas), or power equipment, and uses a variety of hand tools and cleaning supplies. May perform other duties as assigned. and assist other employees with park projects.
Students: Equivalent to completion of the tenth grade, and 16 years of age or older. Must be in attendance at, or on legitimate leave from, a high school, trade school, college or university, and must be enrolled in at least one course for the upcoming semester. Seniors: For purposes of this recruitment, senior citizens are considered to be 55 years of age or older.
Education: Equivalent to completion of the tenth grade, and 15 ½ years to 20 years of age at the close of recruitment. Must be in attendance at, or on legitimate leave from, a high school, trade school, college or university, and must be enrolled in at least one course for the upcoming semester.
