East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD), one of nation’s largest independent water and wastewater utility, invites qualified professionals to apply for the position of Senior Community Affairs Representative. The Senior Community Affairs Representative, under direction from the Manager of Public Affairs/Special Assistant to the General Manager and as a member of the Public Affairs Management team, designs and implements engagement and education strategies to build trust and long-term relationships within the internal and external communities the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) serves. Engagement and education efforts will reach members of the public, internal EBMUD staff, elected officials and business and community leaders.
The Senior Community Affairs Representative directs the development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of strategies that provide for effective education and engagement of EBMUD internal and external stakeholders. This position manages up to 5 staff members that are tasked with ensuring department goals are met.
The most competitive candidates will have previous management experience in community outreach, political or grassroots organizing, communications, media relations and/or public relations within a large complex organization, such as urban water or other utility, non-profit organization, public agency or government. Direct management of personnel or volunteers, or equivalent work within a team that ensured successful work product delivery is highly desirable.
The annual salary is $103,680* up to $149,736*. Initial placement within the range is based upon qualifications. Appointment is typically made at or below the control point ($134,784* per year). * Anticipated salary increase in late April 2018

A bachelor’s degree in communications, community relations, public administration, political science or a closely related field; AND
