$19.55 – $23.89 per hour* plus benefits package (Distribution Operator I)
$23.77 – $29.05 per hour* plus benefits package (Distribution Operator II)
The Distribution Operator I/II performs a variety of duties in the operation, installation, maintenance and repair of water distribution facility systems, including repairing main and service line leaks and breaks; installing, repairing and maintaining water system infrastructure such as water mains, gate valves, meter connections, angle stops, service pipes, corporation stops and appurtenances; responding to customer complaints; and other duties as required. This position is considered a “first responder” during emergency conditions; candidates must live within thirty (30) minutes travel time of the District’s Corporation Yard (5331 Walnut Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95841).
Benefits package includes CalPERS retirement under PEPRA and fully-paid medical, dental, vision and life insurance; voluntary deferred compensation; educational reimbursement program; and paid vacation and holidays.
Required for Distribution Operator I and II:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid California Driver’s License issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles (proof of good driving record as evidenced by freedom from multiple or serious traffic violations or accidents for at least two years duration will be required at time of hire).
Required for Distribution Operator I:
State of California Water Distribution Operator Certificate D1 and Treatment Operator Certificate Grade T1, or ability to obtain Grade D1 certification within one (1) year of employment and Grade T1 certification within two (2) years of employment. Note: One (1) year of experience in maintenance and construction work is desirable.
Required for Distribution Operator II:
State of California Water Distribution Operator Certificate Grade D2 and Treatment Operator Certificate Grade T1, or ability to obtain T1 certificate within one (1) year of employment.
One (1) year of experience in maintenance and construction work plus two (2) years of experience as a certified Grade D2 operator performing installation, maintenance and repair of water distribution facility systems and meters at a level equivalent to the Distribution Operator I.
The successful candidate must pass a background check, pre-employment physical exam, drug screen and alcohol test.
