The Vallejo Flood and Wastewater District invites applications for an OFFICE ASSISTANT. The final filing date is December 12, 2017 ORuntil 100 applications have been received.
The District is seeking an Office Assistant to perform a variety of responsible clerical work including word processing and data entry support, as well as providing information and assistance to the public. The Office Assistant is the journey-level position in the Office Assistant series, and works under general supervision and within a framework of established procedures.

Knowledge of English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation; modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment; basic principles of record keeping.
Ability to learn and correctly interpret and apply the policies and procedures of the function to which assigned; perform clerical work with a high-level of accuracy including maintenance of records; operate a variety of office machines; perform mathematical calculations; respond to requests and inquiries from the general public; understand and carry out oral and written directions; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; work independently in the absence of supervision.
Experience: At least two years of responsible clerical experience, preferably from a public agency or special district, in performing a variety of office and administrative support work including experience in a public contact position. Experience must be in jobs similar to those that will be performed in the position of Office Assistant.
Education/Training: Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade.
License/Certificate: Must possess a valid Class C California Driver’s License at the time of employment. The ability to drive District vehicles is a specific requirement for this position. For that reason, it is at the employee’s responsibility to maintain a driving record that is acceptable to the District’s insurance carrier or be subject to dismissal.
