Zone 7 Water Agency, the major water supply and flood control agency in eastern Alameda County, California, is currently seeking a General Manager, the result of a pending retirement in March 2018. With a staff of approximately 110, Zone 7 provides wholesale potable water to four retail water agencies (the cities of Pleasanton and Livermore, the California Water Service Company, and the Dublin San Ramon Services District) serving 240,000 water customers within an area of approximately 425 square miles in eastern Alameda County. Committed to excellence, independence, and fiscal accountability, the General Manager will have a blend of generalist and technical skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with the retailers and a full range of stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded leader – a leader of people and resources well versed in California water issues. The successful candidate will also have strong financial acumen including general knowledge of debt financing, bond issuance, debt management, and other funding strategies.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of relevant professional experience including 5 years of executive-level management experience within a government agency, water, or other utility related agency. California experience is highly desired and valued.
