The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, headquartered in Los Altos, California, is offering an outstanding opportunity for an experienced public safety executive to serve as Visitor Services Manager (Chief Ranger). The District covers an area of more than 550 square miles and includes 17 cities and adjoining unincorporated areas in San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz counties. The Visitor Services Manager assumes full management responsibility for all Visitor Services Department programs, projects, services, and activities and serves as Chief Law Enforcement Officer, Fire Suppression and Prevention Officer, Medical Services Officer, and Search and Rescue Officer for the District.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and five years of management experience in the protection, operation, or maintenance of parks, open space, forests, or public recreation areas and/or related facilities. Also requires possession of or the ability to obtain various certifications (listed in full brochure) including District approved Law Enforcement Training Certification.
Additional Salary Information: The salary range for this position is $125,316 to $156,516 DOQ. The District also provides an exceptional benefits package that includes California PERS retirement-Non Safety.
